Yuruyuri Manga Gets 10th Anniversary Original Video Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website for the anime of Namori's Yuruyuri manga announced on Sunday that production on a new original video anime has been green-lit to commemorate the manga's 10th anniversary. The new project is titled "Yuruyuri," — pronounced "Yuruyuri ten." The "," or "ten" is a wordplay on the English word "ten" and the Japanese term for a punctuation mark.
Namori launched the Yuruyuri manga in 2008, and the 16th compiled book volume shipped on January 30. JManga and ALC Publishing released part of the original manga digitally in English before JManga shut down in 2013.
The manga already inspired three main television anime seasons that Crunchyroll streamed as they aired. The manga also inspired the Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi! original video anime, which received the two-episode Yuruyuri Nachu Yachumi!+ television anime sequel before the third season (seen above right) debuted in 2015. NISA licensed and released the first two anime seasons on home video in North America.
